For: Operating system maintenance - upgrade, other system adjustments
Impact: IRC connectivity to Kagami.BDRyan.net, and this website, will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance.

This maintenance period is to conduct an upgrade of the operating system to the next major version. Most of the work will be done completely transparent to end users, however, the machine will require a reboot to finish the upgrade process. In preparation for this, incoming IRC user traffic to the server will instead be rerouted to Kisara.BDRyan.net, effective Monday May 13, at 5 PM CDT. Web traffic will not be rerouted, and as such, expect noticeable downtime of the website. If problems arise during maintenance, web traffic will be quickly routed to an alternate system with a status page.

We would like to remind all users that our main medium of communication is the IRC network, and up-to-the-minute status information will be conveyed there. As such we advise you to idle on the IRC network during the maintenance window for any applicable updates on the progress of the maintenance.

Well we're back, finally. I was forced to completely rebuild the site and its data, so all the previous posts were discarded.

I'm looking to start using this for release announcements finally, in addition to the usual announcements regarding the various aspects of the group. Downtime notices will also be posted here.

As a bit of positive news, the URLs to various entries here will now look a lot nicer. The software was switched to Apache/PHP and that enabled the use of Apache's URL rewriting engine, which will allow pretty URLs.

Note that most of the file structure was not maintained, though it was backed up. It will be selectively restored as necessary.
